Day 4: Luray Caverns, Virginia

Friday, July 6 we went to the Luray Caverns in Virginia with the Chappell's. It was kind of pricey and Lucy was extremely whiny about walking a mile (she seriously never would have lasted DC) but they were so beautiful and I felt like they were worth the cost. Not to mention the cool cave airs were a great relief from the hot, humid outside world.

Below: Left- Selfie as we enter the cave. Right- Mirror Lake. The water is only a few inches deep but it creates an amazing reflection.

Below: Left: Steven looking scared as he takes a pic with Pluto's ghost. You see that rock formation at 3 different times as you are walking the cave and so they say it is following you like a ghost. Right: I can't remember the name of this formation but it was in giant's hall.

Below: Left: Lucy is posing by the Great Stalacpipe Organ- it uses Stalactites to produce sounds which and it played a fun song for us. She has finally cheered up by this picture because I promised she could get something from the gift shop if she stopped whining. Bribery for the win. Right: Audrey took a picture of me and Lucy.

Below: Tyler was pretty proud that he was able to take a picture that made that stalagmite look like a unicorn horn on Lucy and me. My eyes are super wide in an attempt to not blink, ha ha!

Above Right: The Wishing Well. Bottom: A pic of some of the kids at the end of our cave adventure.

Afterwards we spent far too long in the gift shop. Penny broke a blue rock cat so we ended up buying it. Thankfully it was only $3 but it also turns you blue if you hold it. She had went to sleep with it and woke up the next day looking like she had had a blue sucker. Blue hand, blue face. Lucy got a purple heart shaped rock- so Lucy. And Steven spent his own money on a book about rocks and gems.
