Beach Days

Sunday night I finished making the Lego set Grace gave me of my face. It was fun to make but I am not sure what to do with it. I look awkward,

Monday I finally went to the dentist to get my tooth that has been hurting me checked. The dentist put some medicine on the nerve and then put in a temporaray filling. He said if it isn't better in a week, I will probably need a root canal. That is looking like a strong possibility right now. A painful and expensive possibility. The worst part of the temporary filling was once again the stuff they put on my mouth to numb it. The taste of it made me gag and I thought I might throw up.

Tuesday I took Ben, Lucy and Ruby to Skyzone. Penny didn't want to go because she thinks it's not fun if she can't do flips. It ended up being good Penny didn't go because Ruby is now 2 and costs money (we don't have a pass for Ruby) but they thought Ruby was Penny so we got away without paying for her. I guess they don't check ages. So maybe I can just lie and say Ruby is 1 still anyways? I was worried they would see her age on the waiver.

Wednesday morning I took Penny to the orthopedic surgeon for an arm check. He confirmed that she no longer needs to wear a brace and said she has no restrictions for her arm. I disagree- I am still against her doing hand stands or any kind of flips. The idea of her doing any of that sort of thing gives me massive anxiety.

Wednesday afternoon I took the boys to their high school registration. I hadn't had to do that for a couple years and I was kind of dreading it but it turned out not to be a big deal. There weren't many people there, and it was easy to figure out what needed to be done. My boys were only interested in the archery booth. That was the only place where I knew someone, the archery coach, and that's only thanks to Tyler. I ordered Ben's pic from the day so here is his. I didn't order Steven's since we have the headshot and senior pics- I think that is enough documentation of his senior year. Ben wore his Winnie-the-Pooh shirt just for kicks and giggles. A girl said she liked his shirt- I don't think she saw the AR-15 Winnie-the-Pooh was holding or read what is actually said.

Wednesday evening I went to Grace's house. I brought my new coloring book and supplies that I had gotten for my birthday because I am really enjoying my nightly coloring. It helps me unwind. It was even better to color while chatting with Grace. It was a good night. After I hung out with her, I picked up Ben from Soccer try outs. Ben found out that night that he made the team. He was very happy and as much as it adds crazy to our life, I am happy for him too. I am glad he has this chance to be part of a team and stay active.

Thursday morning I took all my girls plus Claire to the mall. Lucy has been asking me to take her and Claire for awhile and since we had a free morning I decided I should be nice and take her. We walked the entire Auburn Hills mall per their request. The best part was the pretzels I bought, even if we all consumed them way too fast. Lucy found a shirt for a dollar so that was a pretty good deal but that was basically all that was bought. It was mostly about the experience I suppose.

Thursday evening I had the parent meeting for Ben's soccer. It was literally all the same things they had said at their online meeting that they had had in the spring. So pointless. I get it, I will never complain to a coach about my kid not getting enough play time.

Friday morning I went to a meet and greet for a co-op homeschool group that Julie is a part of. She invited us to join the group and also told me she could use some help with the toddler group so I decided to give it a chance. I don't really want to add more things to our life but I think it might be a good chance for  the girls to make some new friends and it might help foster my friendship with Julie so we're doing it. We basically just filled out some paperwork, and hung with Julie. Not too many people there but Julie said the regulars don't come to the meet and greet so hopefully when it actually starts we will actually make some new friends.

Friday afternoon I took my middle 3 kids to the beach and invited some of their friends as well. I chose to go during Ruby's nap so I wouldn't have to get in the water- Tyler was working from home so he listened out for her. We had Jenna, Reggie, Jesse, AJ, Andrea and Peter join us. Melissa also came so I sat and chatted with her. She drives me a little bonkers with some of the drama in her life but I managed to steer the conversation away from the drama. The kids seemed to have a lot of fun together and I am glad I took them despite my lack of desire to go to the beach.

Friday night Penny had a sleepover at Mimi's house. We love Mimi's family, they are very good to her and Penny had a good time. Apparently they made it a goal to stay up until midnight and they succeeded. I sent her with some cereal and cantaloupe- Mimi's mom was nervous about having the right "American" food available. Afterwards I found out Mimi's dad is allergic to cantaloupe- whoops.

Saturday morning I picked up Penny from the beach and then ran a quick errand at Meijer's. It was at that errand that I realized I had my bike shorts on inside out. Of course I ran into someone I knew while I was there. Hopefully they didn't notice, ugh.

Later Saturday morning I decided to take Ruby to the beach because I felt bad about not taking her the day before and we also had nothing else going on. Ruby actually ended up staying mostly in the shallow water which was really nice and made the outing not too bad. There was a family attempting to clean out kayaks at the beach though that made things slightly awkward. They had a lot of drama since one of their kayaks was taking in water and apparently had some big spiders in it. I was grateful it was not my drama.
